Combining multiple files issues

Hi there!

I have been trying to combine multiple single page PDFs into one document.  I have never had an issue with this Tool before.  However, now when I try to combine files, the new combined PDF is just multiple pages of the first document.

Example: I have 3 single page PDF files.  When I select 'Combine Files", I click 'Add Files' (I have also tried Add Open Files when all three were open, same result), select the three 1 page files, and click open.  All three separate files appear in the screen.  When I click 'Combine' , Adobe creates the new document with 3 pages, but all 3 pages are just duplicates of the first file.  I've tried different files.  I've tried organizing pages and inserting them in this way. It just always adds the new page as whatever the first document is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is a most peculiar behavior!  Might be worth trying from a few different angles.  See if you can successfully combine from the OS (Right-click in Windows, and choose Combine Files in Acrobat.  If the files are corrupt, as suggested by someone here, maybe try the same routine on a different instance of Acrobat (different machine) to see if the behavior follows the files, or just on that one computer.

Good luck.

Hi!

I was wrestling with the same error as you for at least two hours to no avail. I later found out that one of the documents was redesigned by a printing company and was reported to have bugs. I managed to get a hold of the original and the darn thing worked out just fine.

It only takes one document to spoil the whole file.

Hope this helps!

Very strange... Does the same thing happen if you use the Insert File command to insert the second and third files into the first?
