Question

EDIT: Well sometimes you have to post, after many hours of frustration, only to find the answer a few seconds later, right? I couldn't figure out how to delete the post, but I've just dicovered this is a symptom of VIEW > ENABLE/DISABLE NEW ACROBAT. I really don't like 'New Acrobat' and it's requirement to have an extra click just to show you the available tools. Still, we're not all the same are we! ...On my laptop the comments tool bar looks like this, which is great and shows all the tools in one go to be clicked without subselecting: On my imac I have this:I can't for the life of me find how to change the toolbars from a vertical floating window to the top of the app.

I hope you are doing well. Thanks for reaching out. We're sorry for the trouble you had with the app.

In the screenshot of the commenting tool, the Mac displays the new Acrobat UI, while the laptop shows the old classic UI. If you would like both devices to have the same toolbar UI, you can disable the new UI on the iMac. To do this, go to the Acrobat menu and select "Disable New Acrobat." Hey, totally get the frustration — the “New Acrobat” layout feels like extra clicks for no real gain. That vertical floating toolbar is part of the new UI, and switching back to the classic one should help.

Just go to:
View > Disable New Acrobat
Then restart Acrobat, and you should see the comment tools docked nicely at the top again, like on your laptop.

I ran into this same issue when editing PDFs for a project on — had to switch back just to speed up basic tasks. Adobe seems to be slowly phasing in the new layout, but honestly, a lot of us still prefer the old, cleaner interface.
