Question

commenting and scrolling

Since the latest update whenever I try to comment, it automatically selects the first penstroke I've made. For example, if I write 25, it automatically selects the 2 and puts a blue box around it. Can I get it to stop doing this? I'm tired of having to click "undo" or "deselect all."

Also, am I able to change the settings so it allows me to "enable scrolling" all the time or do I have to click this every time I open a new document?

Thanks!

Hi Jstuart,

Sorry for the delay in response, and thanks for reporting the issue.

As mentioned above, that you have started experiencing this problem with the latest update of Adobe Reader. So would you please confirm the exact version that you are working on? Open Reader>Help>About Adobe Reader.

Couple of issues has already been reported with the latest update Acrobat DC 19.008.20071 and there is a fixed in next official update (19.008.20074). This update should have been automatically pushed to all existing installations of Acrobat. If you want, you may also manually trigger the update by opening the application and going to Help > Check for Updates.

Let us know if that hasn't fixed your problem.

Also, are you experiencing this problem with all the pdfs on which you are commenting or a specific one?

For keeping the "Enable Scrolling" as default, follow the steps suggested below-

1- Open a pdf and Go to View>Enable Scrolling

2- Go to Edit>Preferences>Documents> Check "Restore last view settings when reopening the documents"> Ok

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Akanchha

2019.008.20074 is the version I am using. The commenting problem is

happening with all pdfs I am commenting on.

I have that box selected already for viewing previously opened documents.

Is there a way to make it the default setting for all NEW documents I open?

As of now, if I open a document that I previously have changed to enable

scrolling, it lets me scroll. But if it is a document I have never opened

before I still have to manually select "enable scrolling."

Hi Jstuart,

Sorry for the delay in further response.

Hope you have got the latest update automatically installed Acrobat version 19.008.20080 ? If not, then you may check the update manually- Open Acrobat>Help>Check for update.

I have that box selected already for viewing previously opened documents.

Is there a way to make it the default setting for all NEW documents I open?

As page view setting is already enabled, then you may follow the steps suggested below and check further.

Open Acrobat>Edit>Preferences>Accessibility> check "Always use page Layout Style"> Single Page Continuous

As mentioned above, this will override the page display settings that might be applied to an individual document, and will instead become the default for files that you open in Adobe Reader.

Let us know if it still doesn't give you the desired result.

Regards,

Akanchha
