Question

Compare File Tool

Users who have the Acrobat Pro license have access to the Compare File tool. From there, they import 2 files and generate a Comparison Report saved as a nornmal PDF. My question is, why am I not allowed to view the Comparison Report with a Standard License if its a normal .pdf type? I have to open in a browser as a work around. To to clarify, I'm not trying to use the compare file feature, just view a report created by another user running Pro version. Please advise!

It should be possible to open this file in a regular PDF viewer, although you won't get the nice UI that Acrobat adds to it.

It's basically a regular PDF file.

But is Adobe blocking the ability to view these comparison reports for Standard users? We have users running Pro who create the report, we just want the ability to open directly from our Document management system to Acrobat.

That's odd. I opened such a file in Reader and it worked fine.

What happens when you open the report in Acrobat Standard?

Just tried to open the comparison report in Standard (from application) and it crashed. No error messge or anything. If I try to open with Acrobat from my Downloads folder it just spins but again not receiving an error message. Doesn't asppear to be an issue with how we are saving the file, but rather appears to be blocked for Standard users since Pro users are able to do so without issue. Work around for now is to just open in Chrome or to screenshot the report, upload to Word, save it as PDF, then reupload it back to the document management app. From there it opens directly in Adobe without issue.

Happens this with all files with comments?
