Continuously getting the message Upgrading Key Features while edditting a PDF File

Hi Adobe,

Since the new Acrobat lay-out, I am having the issue that while edditting a PDF document (especcially annoying while adding text) every few seconds the software is upgrading key features. While this pops up Acrobat stops working. It does it so often that I can't even change fonts since while searching for a new font it clears the list while upgrading key features.

Can you please fix this bug or tell me how to stop this annoying new feature?

Hello @McCague

I hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out. We’re sorry for the trouble you had with the app.

Could you please share more details about the issue? Are you on a Mac or Windows machine, and what is the version? Can you please share a screenshot of the message you are getting?

Please ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat installed on the machine: Version: 26.001.21563. Planned update, May 18, 2026. Check for any pending updates by navigating to Menu > Help> Check for Updates. Install the updates, restart the app and the machine, and try again.

If you are not able to launch the app at all, please close the app, close all Adobe-related applications, and restart the machine once. Ensure that the OS is updated to the latest version. Then use the Acrobat Cleaner tool to remove the installed app and any conflicting files. Restart the machine, and install Acrobat.

Then try the workflow and let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Anand Sri.

The program is being led by AI it seems and I can’t get anything done - it has control and says its updating but it seems like it is coping what you’re trying to do - i type 1 letter and it kicks into its Updating Key Features - so I have to wait until I can pounce and hope to get half a word typed before it kicks in again and so on and so on - I guess the answer is to cancel the program and try something that isn’t so invasive of the program I have paid to use - but cant…..I’ve done all the elimination attempts but it just re-appears.

Hi @prudentchampion ,

Did this happen recently after an update?

Also, what operating system and what version of Acrobat Pro DC are you on?

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post if it helps you get responses.
