Question

Conversion of multiple word docs to pdf probles

I frequently have to convert and combine multiple Word docs to pdf. Sometimes this is hundreds of Word docs at once so I can't be saving each individual one as a pdf first.

The process is super slow taking hours to convert in Adobe and often the app will crash part way through wasting me hours of work time as I cannot do anything else involving PDFs in the meantime.

My process is as follows:

Download zip folder containing the Word docs

Extract all docs

Highlight and select all docs

Right click

Select "combine in Adobe"

Wait for docs to appear in a list in Adobe

Click "combine"

Wait many hours

Save as pdf

Keep fingers crossed it doesn't crash

I'm currently combing 384 pages and have been waiting over an hour. It's only converted 171 files at this point.

Is there any way to speed this up and ensure the app does not crash?

Apologies for the spelling errors in my post (my pet peeve). It seems my typing cannot keep up with my thoughts!

Anyway, after three hours of converting and combining the docs the app crashed again. So I've wasted half a day of working time.

Hi @cj_0168

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry for the trouble you experienced.

Please ensure that your copy of Adobe Acrobat is up to date. To check for any pending updates, launch Acrobat and then select Help > Check For Updates.

Also, could you please share a zip folder with us that includes all the files? What could be the average total size of the files?

To help us investigate the issue further, could you please share the diagnostic logs?

To collect the logs:

  1. Download and run the Diagnostics Utility from:  https://adobe.ly/4sCCquQ
  2. Click on Start Diagnostics. Ensure advanced logging is checked.
  3. Launch Acrobat, reproduce the issue with your file.
  4. Once done, click Stop Monitoring.
  5. Copy the Log ID and share it with us.

We would require crash logs: https://adobe.ly/49LgDJP

  • Upload logs to any Cloud Drive(One Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc)

Hi

I have checked and I have the most up to date version installed.

I am unable to share a zip folder with you due to the confidential nature of the documents.

I don't really have time to rerun the process and wait for hours for it to go wrong. Whenever I get the crash error I send a report via the pop up anyway.

The size of the files I was most recently trying to combine was 7680kb in total (384 x 20kb) but usually it is smaller and it still crashes.
