Question

Convert RGB gray to pure black but keeping yellow highlights

I have scans of several books.  Visually everything is in black but is actually an RGB black.  I need these to actually show as pure black to reduce click charges when printing.  I know I can instantly do this using the Preflight with Acrobat.

The big trick here is that some of the pages have hand drawn yellow highlights as part of the scan.  I would want these pages to stay as color.  Is there a way to have Preflight or something else convert everything that looks black into actual black but leave everything else of other colors as color?

Also converting each page individually in PS or another way is really not an option.  I have hundreds of pages to go through and rather find some automated method if available

There is no way to do this automatically. I reccomend going through and highlighting those same parts manually, using the highlighter tool. Then convert the document to black using the preflight tool.

You could also make a note of which pages are color, and extract those ones to print separately, as color. The rest print in black and white.
