Converting CMYK Document to RGB

Hi guys,

I made a combined file in Acrobat for a paperback picture book, and the file is in CMYK.  I'd also like to make an eBook version. Is there any way to quickly convert the whole PDF file from CMYK to RGB, or do I need to switch each individual artboard in Illustrator and then export to individual PDFs, and then combine again?

Thanks!

You can use the Convert Colors tool in Acrobat (under Tools - Print Production). Whether it will be fast or not is hard to predict.

You are probably aware the rgb gamut is larger than the cymk gamut, so converting from cmyk to rgb is not likely to produce on-screen color as good as using the original rgb images (if available*), regardless of conversion method.

*rgb Images placed into Illustrator will remain rgb when you save as a pdf (and do not convert to a color destination), even if the Illustrator file uses the cmyk document color mode. You can use the Output Preview tool in Acrobat to identify rgb and cmyk elements in your pdf.
