Corrupt File Error Customsymbol file

Question

After updating from Win10 to Win11, when opening Adobe Acrobat, an error pops up saying: "Resource File Corrupted . The Resource file might be corrupted. Check CustomeSymbol File if it is corrupted". See screenshot of the error.

When clicking OK, everything seems to work. This happens when opening a PDF or opening Adobe Acrobat. However, we have done everything, checked for corrupted files in CMD, did a repair of the install, uninstalled, and reinstalled Adobe Acrobat. Killed the User's profile. It will not come up if we run Adobe Acrobat as an administrator. It also does not come up when logging in as a different user.

Any research shows that a "customsymbol file" is associated with Adobe Illustrator, which is not installed.

It also indicates that this file is ".ai" which is not found on the computer.

Any ideas?

Thank you for the information.

You did point me in the right direction and it was dealing with a plugin called Tic Tie Calculator. So not sure if this is not compatable with Windows 11 or needed an update. The end user said they didn't really use it, I uninstalled it which resolved the error.

Thanks for sharing the error message. And sorry for the troubled experience.

This alert doesn’t appear to be a standard Adobe Acrobat message — it might be coming from a third-party tool, plugin, or custom extension trying to load a resource file (likely something like a stamp or symbol asset). The term “CustomSymbol” isn’t something Acrobat typically uses in its default configuration.

Here are a few suggestions:

Double-check which application is launching — is it definitely Acrobat, or possibly another PDF tool?
If you’re using any custom plug-ins, stamps, or scripts in Acrobat, try disabling or removing them temporarily.
A repair or reinstall of Acrobat (via the Help > Repair Installation menu) might help rule out file corruption.

Alternatively, install Acrobat using a fresh installer from here: https://adobe.ly/40EbkHq, if you don't have the Creative Cloud App installed.
