When trying to open 2 PDFs, and allowing them to be tabulated, dragging one tab off the main window, it crashes and gives the error in the event log:

Is this part of a windows or Adobe update? How can I fix this?!

I'm having the same exact issue with mine. I work for the state, and everyone in our organization is having the same issue. It's making processing payments and invoices a horribly inefficient task and it's increasing our downtimes.

As mentioned above, switching back to the old interface using Menu >
Disable new Acrobat Reader is probably going to be the only fix until Adobe
issues the next major software update.

Thank you! That worked perfectly.

Hi all. I had the same issue - starting approx mid December (not recall the exact moment) - on my corporate laptop with DC reader 64-bit version 2024.005.20320 on Windows 11 Enterprise 22H2.

i tried with Help > Repair Installation and it actually worked. Now I'm able to drag & drop each tab keeping them in how many separate windows i like to.

hope the same worked for you.

Just tried it on mine. Same software version, but on Windows 10 Home. Did
not work unfortunately. 😞

I'm also still having the same issue for over a month now. Any updates on this being fixed?

Same issue, if I have two tabs open, try and drag one of the tabs to view in a separate window, adobe crashes/closes the whole application. No report box or error codes, just freezes for a few seconds then closes everything.

Everytime I split two tabs Acrobat Reader crashed and closed them both, no warning, no message. I opened Adobe Reader and under file clicked "Disable new reader" or something like that, (sorry, it's gone now) but it looks like it changed my version that i'd upgraded to on 12/10/24 and reverted it - now I can split tabs no problem onto multiple screens again!

Same issue here for many users, will we see an update to when the fix is pushed out?

I'm having the same issue. If I open a single document, create new window, and then try to drag/add the new tab into the original window, Adobe crashes. The same thing happens if I have two tabs in the same window, and try to drag one of them off. No crash report box appears either (I went through the prescribed process through CMD and still no report box).

Hi @RollingGrayMan,

Thanks for writing in!

We are already aware of the issue, and this should be fixed soon.

Hi any fix for this problem yet? Still having to roll back the application daily to split the tabs.TIA

Hi there, my mother encountered the exact same issue as OP described above, without the error, it simply crashed without any additional windows providing context being displayed. She is using Windows 11 and I just uninstalled the version of Acrobat she had, and redownloaded the installer, and after running the executable and the installation process finished the download and setup of the latest version, the tabs were able to split without any crashes, so just try a reinstall if you encounter this issue, it worked for her but it might not for everyone else.

I've seen the issue with 2 users and I've only been able to test the fix with one, but I found that disabling the "new adobe" view fixed it

こんにちは。

日本語版のAcrobat製品でも発生しています。判明している発生条件(環境等)は以下のとおりです。

  Windows 10 or 11 / AcrobatPro, AcrobatReader 24.004.272, 24.004.307, 24.005.320

日本語版では新UIのときに発生し,旧UIでは発生しません。

タブをドラッグして分離,統合するとクラッシュします。また「並べて表示」した場合もクラッシュします。

一応のご報告まで。

ありがとう。
