Creating editable/printable/saveable pdfs for salesforce...

Here is my situation.  I"m a one person marketing department trying to save my sanity by allowing the salesforce to take a pdf I have added editable fields to (name, title, email, etc etc) that they can A) Print but most importantly B) save with their typed-in information and send to clients.  The issue I find is that saving the pdf does not lock down those editable fields.  Kind of renders it useless.  I am using Adobe Acrobat DC to create the forms, and the users are using Reader DC to fill them.  Is there a way I can make it so when the user saves it, it flattens it and renders it uneditable any further? I looked at some old answers but was hoping a new solution would be available now.

if this isn't possible, anyone have any workarounds that work for them?

Best you can do is add a digital signature field to the file and set it to lock all the fields once signed. It won't prevent people from editing the files (if they really wanted to), but you will be able to know about it, as it will invalidate the signature. The other option is to set the fields as read-only, but that is trivial to change back. Flattening is not possible in Reader.
