Critical Usability Issues with the New Acrobat Pro UI – Persistent Pop-ups and Missing Page Layout Options

I am writing to formally express my frustration regarding recent user interface updates in Adobe Acrobat Pro. While I understand the push for modernization and new features, the current implementation has severely disrupted my daily workflow due to settings failing to persist and the removal of essential legacy features.

Specifically, I am experiencing the following critical issues:

  1. Intrusive AI Features & Pop-ups on Startup: Every single time I open a PDF, the application forces the "View Summary" bar and the "AI Assistant" panel onto my screen. Despite turning them off manually, they repeatedly reappear on subsequent launches. This feels incredibly intrusive and creates unnecessary clutter.
  2. Failure to Retain Page Scrolling Settings: I am continuously forced to manually re-enable page scrolling ("Scroll Pages" / Continuous View) every time I reopen the application. A professional PDF reader should remember the user's preferred layout default without requiring repetitive manual adjustments on every launch.
  3. Removal of "Two-Up Continuous (Cover Page)" from Accessibility Options: In the old interface, users could easily force a permanent global layout where the cover page displays as a single page, followed by the rest of the document as spreads (Two-Up). In the new layout, this specific option has been completely removed from the Preferences > Accessibility > Override Page Display menu. Forcing users to rely on the "Restore last view settings" on a document-by-document basis is an inefficient and frustrating downgrade for professionals who handle dozens of new documents daily.

As a paying Acrobat Pro subscriber, I expect the software to respect my workspace configuration. Having to fight the interface and re-configure my view settings every time I open a new document is completely unacceptable for a premium enterprise tool.

I strongly urge your product team to:

  • Provide a clear, permanent global toggle to completely disable all AI Assistant elements and startup pop-ups.
  • Restore the Two-Up Continuous (Cover Page) option to the global Accessibility override menu so users can permanently enforce their preferred spread layout for all files.

I look forward to hearing how Adobe plans to address these regression issues in upcoming patches.

I’ll second Dave’s suggestion of switching back to the old interface (which is what I mostly use). As you may know, this is a commuity forum, so most people you encounter here are users of Adobe’s technology and not Adobe employees. The formal way to send feedback to Adobe is here:

You can switch back to the older interface if you want.
