Delete Pages after extracting – not working?

Hi there!

I often have a PDF document that I need to split.
Up until this error started happening a couple months, I would open the PDF, go to Organize pages, and then attempt to extract 8-12 pages from the document. I liked having the "Delete Pages after extracting" box selected so that I could easily go back into the large PDF and select my next range to extract — and not accidentally grab pages I've already pulled out. I now get this error: One or more pages are in use and could not be deleted.
They aren't in use or open elsewhere. I'm not doing anything differently than before when it worked easily. How can I get rid of this error?

I am using the latest version of Acrobat CC on an iMac Big Sur.

Thanks for your time!

Since you've mentioned about selecting the page ranges, in Arobat JavaScript the first page of a document is zero "0" not one.

For example, if you have a 2 pages long document, and let's say that you select "Extract Pages" while manually entering a page range of "1-1" (page one of one),  it will delete the second page not the intended first page as it is displayed visually on screen.
