Dialogue / Progress box keeps popping up when opening PDF, then freezes

I can open Acrobat without issue, but every time I open a PDF, this progress box opens up, freezing the program and making Acrobat unusable.  I have to kill the App in the Task Manager.  Happens with every PDF I have tried recently. 

Have made sure everything is update, Version 2023.0003.20215

At a standstill with my work. Please advise.
