Hi @tumba_4015,

Thanks for sharing the issue. We understand how frustrating it can be when text formatting changes unexpectedly while editing a PDF.

What you’re seeing usually happens when the original fonts used in the PDF are not embedded or are not installed on your current system. When this happens, Acrobat has to substitute the missing font, which can result in the characters appearing bold, misaligned, or slightly different.

To confirm, you can:

  1. Open your PDF in Acrobat.
  2. Go to File > Properties > Fonts.
  3. See whether the fonts are embedded or marked as substituted.

If the fonts are missing or not embedded, Acrobat cannot preserve the exact look during editing.

Workarounds:

  • Install the missing font on your system (if available).

  • Use “Edit > Preferences > Content Editing > Font Options” to set a default font for substitution.

  • Convert the text to outlines before editing (for non-editable visual preservation — requires Illustrator or pre-processing).

Let us know what you see in the Fonts tab — we’re here to help troubleshoot further!
