Different kind of sequential numbering in a PDF

I know Acrobat can incorporate sequental numbering in a document but I have a bit of a unique question.

Is there a way to save a "master" PDF form with a sequential number code built in where whenever the master file is opened, shared or saved it has a new number. However that newly numbered (ex. #00301) form won't change numbers once filled out and resaved?

Yes, but it's not going to work if multiple people access the file, as one copy won't be able to know that another copy exists, and you'll end up with duplicates.

This makes sense in regards to the master file, which is what is desired. I am wondering more about a saved file that came from that master. Would that number stay the same regardless of multiple opening and closings?

If there's only one copy of the file, then yes. But as soon as someone saves another copy of it, it will be broken.
