How can I retain a digital signature and still save a combined file as a binder and not a portfolio? Is this possible? Cause I need the file in the binder format but I keep being prompted to save as portfolio to retain the signature and that's not the format I desire. I'd appreciate a response.

Do you need the signature to remain a valid digital signature?

Yes.

In that case @JR Boulay 's answer is correct. It is conceptually impossible to merge digitally signed documents in an interoperable way and keep the signatures valid.

You may opt for a hybrid approach: flatten the signature fields in a copy of each of the original PDFs and merge these copies; then attach the original, digitally signed files as attachments for non-repudiation.
