Question

digital signature

I'm having an intermittent problem with applying a digital signature.  I have been using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC digital signatures for many years and this problem has started within the last few months.  When I apply the signature nothing happens.  It prompts me appropriately and saves the document but does not apply the signature.  I do not get any error message.  I try different size boxes, sometimes up to 20 times.  I tried closing and re-opening the documents.  Often I will be signing different versions of the same document and it will work fine for the first 5 then on the 6th, it won't work.  I'm using the same size box, same password, same computer, etc.  Can someone offer a suggestion?

Hello Lanaw,

Sorry for the delayed response and inconvenience caused. Please disable the Protected mode of Adobe Reader once and try signing the PDF file and see if this make any difference.

To disable the Protected mode, navigate to Preferences of Adobe Reader from Edit>Preferences>Security(enhanced)>Protected View>Off and uncheck Enable Enhanced Security.

Note: Disabling the Protected Mode is only for testing purpose, please enable it back.

Also, uncheck the option once "Use modern user interface for signing and Digital Id configuration" from Edit>Preferences>Signatures>Creation & Appearances>More.

Are you using Digital Signature with Certificate? Does this happen with all the PDF files or with one or two specific PDF file? Is the PDF file contains form fields?

Make sure that you have the latest version of Adobe Reader installed from help>check for updates.

For testing purpose, create a test digital signature and try signing a PDF and see if this issue is reproducible. To create a test digital id, you can refer to Digital IDs in Acrobat

Hi lanaw40707116,

Have you tried updating your Acrobat Reader

If its already up to date, try repairing the app from program and features option.

restart your machine and then try.
