Question

Digital Signature for PC from a Mac Acrobat Reader

I have created a PDF with fillable fields using a Mac (Acrobat Pro 9) for a client. I am easily able to fill out the form and digitally sign it. They have a PC or non Mac computer and are unable to sign the document but can fill out fields. Along with this issue, they have some dropdown menus that stay open without the option to close them.

We don't know how to solve this issue. Under 'Properties' (Mac computer) the Security says Filling of Forms and Signing are 'Allowed". There are no other security restrictions in place.

Any suggestions out there? Thank you!

Hi,

Aside from the fact that the form was created with a very old and  unsupported version of Acrobat Pro, I think the main question should be focused on what is your Client using to fill and sign PDFs on their end?

Your post says Acrobat Reader... which version update?

Can you provide what are they using?

Which PDF handler/viewer is defaulted to in their Windows (Unix? Linux?) environment?

You've mentioned they're using a PC but with what operating system?

OR,

Are can you confirm if what they're doing  opening the PDF directly in a web browser with Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome, for example, instead of Adobe Reader.

Hello,

This is what my client says:

[I'm using windows 10 and Adobe Reader touch. Nothing happens. No error and I can't type anything into that field. It doesn't show that its a signature field.]

Wondering if it is due to the older Acrobat Pro 9 version? Could I bring the pdf into Reader DC to 'update"?

Thank you,

Alicia

Csn you confirm if your Client is subscribed to Adobe Sign.

The Adobe Reader Touch app seems to rely on Adobe Sign to be able to sign PDFs.

However, when you, as the PDF creator, send a PDF file out for signatures using Adobe Sign, any user should be able to sign it from any device and even a web browser.
