Disabled Acrobat Pro XI on my PC

Recently, I had been editing a .pdf document with my Acrobat Pro XI for several weeks.  I the went on vacation for a week and when I came back I could no longer use my Pro XI.  Every time I opened the document, all I got was an invitation to purchase a monthly license for Acrobat DC.  I only use the Acrobat .pdf editing tool a couple of times a year for some non-profit event marketing and I can't afford to be paying $14.99 a month for that capability.   I can understand why Adobe may no longer want to support Pro XI, but why does it have to disable my version of the product on my PC?  Are there any other .pdf editing tools available from anyone at a more reasonable price for my limited usage?

Thanks kglad. I resolved my problem through Adobe Chat Support.  Just had to re-register my original Acrobat XI Pro serial number.

do you have any cc subscriptions?

if not, apply all steps that you can:

uninstall everything cc including preferences, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html

then uninstall the cc desktop app, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html

rename Adobe PCD folder and SLStore folders*

clean your computer of cc files per http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html

after securing your xi serial number, uninstall your acrobat xi

if win, clean per Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

restart your computer (don't skip this)

reinstall your acrobat xi and activate with your serial number
