Question

Does the "Name" field in a document have to be required?

I am creating a fillable consent form for a pilot program. There are muliple area's where a partipant can initail. Since it will depend on what they choose, I made all of the initail feilds optional, so I deselected "requiered" in the field setting.

There are also several options where I want the signer to print their full name, sign, and date. This will also depend on what they choose. I am editing the fields in the "Request E-Signature" function. I can change all of the fields to not be requiered expect the "Name" field.

For example:

Option 1: " I ______(Full Name) declined additional services provided and would like to enroll in the program."

(Full Name) (Signature) (Date).

Option 2: I _____ (Full Name) recieved additional services provided and would like to enroll in the program.

(Full Name) (Signature) (Date).

All of the participants have to receive the same form, but I don't need the signers full name for both options. Is there a way to make the "Name" field not requiered?

It took me a very long time to find the answer, but tf I understand the information from this page, Adobe Acrobat Sign Text Tag Guide, corretly, there is not a way. All information under "Signer Info Fields" (Title, Company, Name, and Email) will always be requiered, and there is no way to change it.

Hi Lonia M

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble.  What happens when you try to change the Name field properties? Do you get any error messages? If yes,  please share the screenshot of the same for a better understanding.

Also, please try the following steps and see if it works:

  • Open the document > Convert it to Form
  • Right click on each form field > Properties
  • In Text field Properties > General > Uncheck the "Required" option and hit close
  • Repeat for each of the form fields and it should be good to go.

Hope this information will help

Regards

Amal

Thanks Amal. I can do that when it is in "Prepare Form". When I go into "Request E-signature", it looks different. I added the screenshot of the how the initial field looks when I edit it vs the name field. I can uncheck for initial but not the name.
