Double-clicking PDF produces Save PDF As dialog

In Windows File Explorer, on a system running Windows 10 22H2 and Acrobat 9.0, I double-click on a PDF file. Instead of opening the PDF file, this gives me a Save PDF As dialog. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat; the behavior persists. Any idea why?

This behavior appears unique to PDFs. For instance, double-clicking on a WAV does not open a Save WAV As dialog; instead, it plays the WAV, as expected.

Acrobat 9 is an old and unsupported version, not officially compatible with Windows 10, so problems are to be expected, especially when it comes to things that require integration with the OS, like when double-clicking a file.

Sorry, no. I've been using this Acrobat installer on this Windows 10 system for seven years without seeing this problem previously.

Anyone else?
