Question

double sided printing

I am trying to turn off double sided printing in Acrobat Prop v11.02 for Mac iOS.  The Adobe HELP page shows a PRINT dialogue with an option to turn on/off double-sided printing.  The PRINT dialogue in my software does not resemble the HELP page.  Can't find a way to turn it off?  Tried to call or chat with Adoble, but this forum is the only option they allow.  (Great customer service)

Hi Williaml,

You may refer and take help from the Adobe article to enable the Duplex printing in Adobe Reader Unable to print double-side or single-side in Acrobat on Mac.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Okay, thanks all.  Im glad it ISN'T a problem in Mac - at least I can use it there (preview and pages) and delete Adobe.  Its a shame bc Morgan Stanley kept telling me I had to use adobe to view documents and print double sided.  Hummm, oh well.  I guess they didnt know it works on Mac applications either.

Good luck with deleting Adobe Acrobat... Preview is not a full replacement for Acrobat.

Yep, but it works AND allows for duplex printing.

right.  thats what im thinking - as its not supported.....  Deleting as going to preview to pages I guess.  Duplex 2 sided printing works there.  Tks.

Preview is implementing only a subset of the PDF standard.

Double sided printing is a common problem on MacOS, because most consumer printer drivers do not follow guidelines. I've rarely seen complaints with professional (postscript) printers. Consumer printers look where the market is. They work very well with Windows, most of the time.

Yep - confirmed this am with adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC does NOT support duplex printing with / on / from a Mac.

Exactly who from Adobe told you that? That is simply not true. There are issues based on how and/or which printer driver is installed, but printing from Reader and Acrobat is common code with a slightly different UI. Reader does support duplex if it supported for the same printer in Acrobat Pro.

their c/s service.  but as its a free program, the adviser said, answer was "off the record".  OFFICIALLY, I have to post on the site which ive done.  But, OFFICIALLY, no one answered.  I was told its not supported and to download a free trial of the Pro to try it there.  But, even then, they could not tell me if its possible in Pro.  it is not possible to do it on a Mac.  Apple says its up to Adobe to make it work - "Its an Adobe program and an Adobe issue, just look online".

So on the latest version of adobe reader dc with Mac high Sierra i am too having this problem when using a duplex enabled printer.

Can an anyone tell me how to enable the duplex option in adobe ?

there isn’t even the option box, it’s not there anywhere.

However i I can print duplex on the Apple side - safari, preview, pages etc.

i guess No more adobe. Weird they would let you do it...

As said here 1 year ago (image from here 1 year ago) :

When clicking “Printer...” you should get to the printer driver settings. There you should have an option to choose the printer settings.

Click "Print" (that's the only "strange" thing to do) to return to the Adobe dialogue box.

yep, I tried that.  and when I click printer I do get the warning that I am leaving the adobe side to the apple side and the print settings do appear. see screen shot.  BUT, as you see, 2 sided is selected and when I hit print the dialog box disappears and im back at the adobe dialog box where none of the selections carry over.  so - no duplex printing...  Ive re-re-installed and re-re-re-re-tested.  see 1st box where I have the choices, 2nd where ive selected option, 2 sided, etc., and third - what happens after making selections and hitting print....  No duplex printing.

Acrobat Pro XI is no more supported by Adobe. That's standard for older software. Anyhow, this is a great user to user forum.

It would further be of great help for us to help you to give the link to the Adobe help page, where you found the PRINT dialogue and to show us a screen-shot of your print dialogue.

this still doesn't answer the question of how to turn OFF double sided printing. Why is there no dialogue box to turn double sided printing on or off? Why is it the default?

There is:

That's why it is confusing, when someone refers to a page and does not include the link to follow...and to see, what the users means!
