Question

Drop down text field fillable and searchable, is it possible?

On the drop down list properties Options tab, if I don't check off 'Allow the user to enter custom text' the user can type the first letter and it will search on the list, but then the user can't enter custom text.  Is there any way that I'm not aware of that I can set it up so the drop down is fillable and searchable?

Thank you!

You can achieve something similar to what you described using this (paid-for) script I've developed that allows you to use a text field to filter the items of a drop-down field. You can find it here:

You can also get it from my new web-site, where's there's currently a "soft launch" sale (The discount code is available on the front-page):

Thank you Try67, I checked it out and it's very impressive!  It's just too bad it can't be done in the same text field, but at least I know it's can't be done.

Hey Tracey,

Thank you for reaching out.

As I understand, you wish to make the drop-down list searchable so that you can type in the first letter and it will search the matching word in the list.

Currently, there is no such option to set up a searchable drop-down list by default in Acrobat.

However, you may try to achieve this by using a script.

Hope the information helps.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Thank you!  I'm searching a way to acheive this by using script, but no such luck so far.  If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated!  I attached a sample of what I need, the actual list is very long.
