Edit is now not allowing me to delete?

As of this morning, there seems to be some issues when editing a PDF and trying to delete. Certain things like text can be deleted, but trying to delete lines does nothing when using the delete key.

It has worked up until this morning, was there a change with the latest version?

    Hi Energetic_Starf98e,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry for the trouble this may have caused.

This has been fixed. If you are still experiencing the issue, please try relaunching the application twice, then keep it open for approximately one minute. This will apply the backend changes and resolve the issue.

Also, try to update the application to the latest version 26.002.21869 released today. In Acrobat, go to Menu  > Help > Check for updates. For more information, refer to the following help page: 26.002.21869 Planned update.

If you still experience the same, let us know.

    Thanks,

    Meenakshi

What was your solution?  Mine is still not working.

I did nothing. Just turned my computer on this morning and it deleted everything (lines and text) without any problems. I came back to this community expecting an announcement of a fix so I was surprised there were no updates!!

    Hi there,

Hope you are doing well. Please try to log out of the application, reboot the device once, and re-login with your Adobe credentials and see if that works.

Ran into the same issue. Yesterday I temporarily fixed the deletion problem, after reinstalling acrobat. Using the bounding box, right clicking  and cut worked but trying to backspace on keyboard, delete on keyboard, or even right clicking and delete would not work. Today trying any method to remove a section using the bounding box does nothing just a loading wheel pops up for a few mins. Updated(26.001.21789), also repaired the application but nothing is fixed

I have the same problem which started yesterday. I had a rep from Adobe remotely accessing my computer and he worked on the problem for over an hour to no avail!

I have exactly the same issue since last couple of hours. I was able to edit normally until this morning. I can delete texts, and images, but not lines, shapes etc.

    Hello @andyhale64 & @Exigent329120552xj6

I hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out. Sorry for the trouble you had.

Could you please share more details about the issue?

Is it happening with all the PDFs, or with specific type of PDF, like a scanned PDF, forms, etc.

Assuming you are on the latest build of Acrobat: 26.001.21789, Out of cycle update, Aug 11, 2026

For testing purposes, please disable the security settings once from Menu > Preferences > untick the Enhanced security, and protected mode options, click OK, restart the app, and try again with a different PDF.

Please enable the security settings after the test.

If the issue stil continues, please share a sample PDF file through which you are able to reproduce the issue, a quick screen recording, the OS version installed, and the logs from the affected machine for further investigation. To collect the logs, please refer to this article: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-diagnostics.html

I hope this helps, and please reach out if you need any assistance.

    Regards,

    Anand Sri.

    Hi Amand Sri

Thank you for your reply. This problem only started happening today and, if you look at many of the forums, they are filling up with people citing exactly the same problem.

It is happening with more than just one pdf file. For testing purposes, I turned off the security settings as suggested, however, the problem persists. I have tried with external documents in addition to my own documents generated from MS Word docs and I have the same issue.

I am running Windows 11 on PC, V25H2, OS Build 26200.9168.

I have exactly the same issue today. I can put a bounding box around the item that want to delete and I can resize it, copy it, paste it and I can even move it off the page, but the delete button has no effect. This seems to only affect some of the editable items or images on the page and not others. I have been following through on some suggested fixes on Copilot but nothing has resolved it so far. I am guessing an update has cause some issues as this is not the only thing that I have encountered with Pro today. Other settings have changed, which I have had to reset. Would be good to get some prompt attention from Adobe on this.

Thanks for replying, hopefully the more people reporting the issue, the sooner Adobe will notice and take action!
