Question

Edit Panel doesn't Display in Acrobat Pro - "repair" doesn't fix anything

When I open a file in Adobe Acrobat - or even just the program and look at all tools - and select Edit PDF, I get an error message: Acrobat has encountered a problem. Some features may not work as expected. Try repair to fix the issue."

So I click repair. It does its thing. And nothing is repaired.

If I click cancel, the Edit Panel does not display, severely limiting any tools to actually edit. I'm at a loss how to fix this problem. Any suggestions? HELP?

Hello,

This is still an issue which I have had with 2 of our users.

So far, none of these solutions have fixed this.

Many Thanks

First, try updating Acrobat via Help > Check for Updates. If that doesn’t work, do a manual repair through Control Panel (Windows) or fully uninstall and reinstall (Mac users especially). Also try resetting preferences by renaming the Acrobat settings folder, and disable GPU acceleration under Preferences > Page Display. Launching Acrobat in Safe Mode (hold Shift while opening) can help identify plug-in issues. If Edit still doesn’t work, sign out and back into your Adobe account, or run Acrobat as an admin. For a clean slate, use the Acrobat Cleaner Tool before reinstalling. Let me know your system details if none of this helps—we’ll dig deeper!

Hi @AnandSri

Can you help us with the acromon log for further analysis of this issue?

I am getting this exact same problem on MacOS.

I have done everything, uninstall Acrobat using the ACRO remover tool, uninstalled CREATIVE CLOUD and ALL my apps, removed every single ADOBE folder on my system. After reinstall, it's still like this.

There is nothing you can tell me that I haven't done, this is a backend issue. Please fix or update.

What version of Windows are you using?

You could try a reinstall of Acrobat Pro using the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop Application.

Hello Lee!

I hope you are doing well, and we apologize for the delayed response and the trouble.

If you are able to launch the app, please check for any pending updates of the app from the Acrobat > Help > Check for updates, install the updates, reboot the machine, and check. Please ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat installed on the machine: 25.001.20432 Planned update, Mar 11, 2025.

If you can't launch the app and it freezes, please use the Acrobat Cleaner tool to remove the app, restart the machine, and install Acrobat.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.
