I am trying to edit a massive document (around 350 pages, company handbook). In adobe the pages are split into 2 columns, for example the left side of one page will be a paragraph and the right side will continue from that left side paragraph. I am trying to eliminate this and just make it one page one column only, not two sided but am having serious trouble. I've tried copy pasting the data into a Microsoft Word and Google Docs but it takes forever and the data becomes corrupt. There has to be an easier way to complete this, any help?

What is possible to do easily (with a script) is to cut the pages in two parts and assemble them in the order.

PDF files were never meant to be edited in such a way, and doing so will always be tricky, and even dangerous (as it can seriously screw up their layout, as you've seen). The short answer is no, you can't do it, and nor should you try to.

If you have access to the original file format, make the edits there. If you don't, export the PDF file to a more editable format (like Word or InDesign) and then edit that file. When done, create a new PDF file, making sure to keep a copy of the source file, in case future edits are needed.

Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs that you try to edit? Please try with a different PDF file and check.  If it's an issue with a specific file, please share the file with us for testing.

 

Also, please share a small video recording of the steps you are doing and the issue you are experiencing for a better understanding.

 

Make sure you have the recent version 22.1.20117 (Win), 20112 (Mac) installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.
