Editing Text & Forms

In the version before DC - when I created a form using XI Pro clients could open the document in Reader press CNTRL + E and the menu for changing font types and sizes would come up. It doesn't do that anymore and it's VERY frustrating. Can anyone help tell me why this is?

Additionally, I thought that a work around would be to just save the file I created in Illustrator to a PDF and they could edit the text directly from there. No bueno! That doesn't work either!

Help me! DC has me so frustrated.
