Editing Text in a pdf created from Word - Dropping letter

I have created a pdf from a word document, when I am in the pdf, I realize I need to resize the text from 12 to 10.2 pt to fit it properly. When I used the Text Edit function and changed the size, it took all the words that had a ti together and removed the t from them. So a word that would be continue would now show con inue. Below is a screen shot of the issue appearing.

I am using Windows 7, Acrobat Pro DC Version 2018.011.20038

This is a major issue as we create files like this all the time.

How did you convert the Word file, exactly? Did you embed all the fonts?

Missing characters usually has to do with the font. Does this also happen when you use a different font? In general, if you can edit the file in the original application, that's always a much better solution vs. editing in Acrobat. Go back to your Word document and make the changes there. This will also make sure that the modified text correctly reflows, which is not necessarily true in Acrobat. Acobat is not a word processor or a desktop publishing application.

The font is just Calibri, so not even a special font. While i know editing is not optimal within Acrobat, the ability to do so is there and there should be no reason letters would just completely drop out for a standard font set like Calibri which is included on the Windows OS

As far as Acrobat is concerned, Calibri is a special font. I would suggest to try the same with either Helvetica, Times Roman, or Courier (or their Microsoft equivalents). Does that also show the problem? What about Try's suggestion of embedding the fonts? Does that make a difference? What exactly do you see when you bring up the "Document Information" dialog for this document and then go to the "Description" tab. What does it list for Application and PDF Producer?
