Hello,

I have a pdf which i encrypted against editing. My client tried to mark up the document with some notes and save it. Now it requires a password to open, which imwas not originally required, and the original password that I entered no longer works. please help me if there is a way go access this document.

How did you encrypt it?

File was encrypted when exported from illustrator as a pdf, I used the "require a password to change security permissions" option. Customer claims they only made simple text changes to the document and saved it, now it requires a password to open.

Requiring a password to "change security permissions" does not encrypt the file. Only securing with a digital certificate will ecrypt the document.

It most likely that something was done on the customers end, but it is concievable that they somehow corrupted the security parameters the so old password isn't any good and Acrobat thinks a password needed for opening.

Ask the client for the password, or for an unsecured copy. There's no other way.

Client claims they did not enter a new password when they saved it.

What application did they use?

Did they digitally sign it?
