Error code 1 for Acrobat DC

Instructions say uninstall and reinstall. Did that using the creative cloud app. It looks like it works... the "Install" changes to "Open"  but the result if trying to open the Acrobat application is this dialog:  Tried twice.  Same problem.

The error persists.  Of course the forum has nothing on fixing this error.  It looks like a bad install script from Adobe to me.

MacPro, OS 10.11.6

The answer in the article is not correct.  The problem persists after checking correct time zone and system time and multiple reattempts to get the product installed...  This is ridiculous.  I am not impressed by Adobe's product support ... complete uninstall didi not solve the problem.
