Errors in the converted PDF/A file.

I am facing an issue in the converted PDF/A file. 

I have combined 3 PDF documents (File A, File B, File C) into a single PDF document and want to convert it into a PDF/A document. But after this conversion, File B in the PDF/A document has issues - same text appears twice in different positions (see the attached snapshot of one of the pages). The issue is only with File B in the converted combined document. When I converted individual File B pdf into PDF/A file, there was no issue. 

I have tried recombining the individual PDFs and then converting. However, the issue persists.

I also noticed, that only the pages with images faced this issue.

Understandable. You might want to try another step.

 

That would be to convert the original PDF file (publication) to a Word file. 

Once done, you can recreate a PDF file from the Word document. When creating, in the preferences of the PDF maker, go to Advanced settings-> Fonts-> check the options "Embed all fonts" and "Embed all OpenType fonts."

 

Try combining the newly created PDF with your thesis and let me know if that works.

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the trouble.

 

From the screenshot, a few possibilities:

(1) The program that generated the PDF file did not embed the fonts referenced by the text in the PDF file. As such, especially if fonts other than Helvetica, Times, Arial, Courier, etc. are used, the substitution fonts may not be able to adequately emulate the original font.

(2) In conjunction with (1) above, if the PDF creation software didn't properly generate font information for the non-embedded fonts, the widths and spacing used when substitution.

Hello Sauvik,

Thanks for your response. 

Actually, the first time I converted the combined files, there was no issue. 

However, I had to change something in File A, and I am facing the above stated problem. 

The font in the problematic File B is Palatino Linotype, which is specific to the journal (File B is a publication).

Lastly, I cannot send you all the files or the combined files, because it is my PhD thesis, which I need to submit as soon as I manage to have a proper PDF/A document. However, I can send you the problematic File (publication, which is open access) along with some other files.

Will it be enough? 

As I mentioned, I am stuck because of this issue and cannot submit my thesis without a proper PDF/A document.
