Question

Even after flattening, different versions of a form are just duplicates of the first version

Hi, I am inserting several flattened versions of a form into one PDF, but the new inserts always default to the original page. Yes, the fillable boxes have the same field name from document to document when they are in fillable form. I'm flattening with Microsoft Print to PDF and by signing the document, but they are still acting like the fillable boxes are live and duplcating the information from the first version.

You'll find a free PDF flattening tool here:

https://www.pdfscripting.com/public/Free_Acrobat_Automation_Tools.cfm

Use it.

Signing a document does not flatten it. It locks the fields, but they remain as field objects within it.

If you want to flatten the files you can use this script:

this.flattenPages();

I'd like to get some clarity on your request, please.  Your forms are in Word format, correct?  You then print to Microsoft Print to PDF, and you don't get different results from different forms?  If you could describe the details, or maybe even include a screenshot or tow, it might help troubleshoot.

My best,

Dave

Hi, it's not a word document. It's a fillable Adobe PDF. When you print, you can chose Microsoft Print to PDF or Adobe PDF as printer locations in order to flatten the fillable forms.

Try these steps to flatten your PDF. Be sure to make a copy first, as there is no going back.

With Acrobat Pro, follow the steps below to flatten your PDF:

  1. Make a copy of your PDF.
  2. Choose Advanced > Print Production > Flattener Preview.
  3. Adjust the Raster/Vector balance.
  4. Select Convert All Text To Outlines.
  5. Deselect Clip Complex Regions.
  6. Click Apply to flatten the PDF.
  7. Close the Flattener Preview dialog box.
  8. Print document.
