Few questions from a beginner - Acrobat Pro 11

Hello, I am a beginner with Acrobat Pro 11 and just have a few questions in general.

1. Is there a way to create a pdf from scratch by just inserting blank pages like you would with Word? The only way I was able to insert blank pages was if it was a pdf with existing pages. Is Acrobat just not designed to work that way?

2. If I add text to a pdf and the text wraps to the next line I notice it sits on top of the line below it and doesn't push down the rest of the lines below it---how do you handle that?

3. It seems to me that there are default margins but do you know what they are and if they can be adjusted anywhere?

4. How do you number pages?

5. Why does the font default to Minion Pro every time I open the file?

6. How do you insert a digital signature?

I think that the summary response to your questions is that PDF is not an editable document format, but rather a final form file format primarily used to represent the electronic master of the output from word processing, page layout, graphic arts, etc. programs.

Acrobat is not a word processor or a layout program. The editing capabilities are primary limited to simple text edits and limited operations on vector and raster image objects. Based on your questions, it seem that you should be using either a word processing or a page layout program for content creation and edit, not Acrobat for those purposes.

Thank you Dov. So then I'll ask just one more question---so when I add text and my line wraps and sits on top of the line below it should I just drag and drop that text further down the page? Just trying to understand if this is the normal way to add and move text. Thanks.

I think I need to emphasise this: there is NOTHING NORMAL about adding or moving text in a PDF. It is a DESPERATE LAST RESORT for when the original, real, document has been lost and there is no alternative at all. The text editing in Acrobat is basically rubbish, doing the best it can with something never meant for editing. If you see Acrobat as somehow replacing Word, you are creating a world of pain for yourself - we often see this. You have Word? KEEP USING WORD to make your PDF files.
