When I try to duplicate a field and select "duplciate across all pages" nothing happens!!! Ive tried selecting "across all pages" and "specific pages" and nothing happens/works.

I am trying to get a signature field copied on 8 different pages. It's the same person's signature. When I try to use the same field name, I get an error message "A field of a differnt type already uses this name. Please choose a new name for the field, or change the field type to match the existing field with this name".

Nothing's working! HELP!

this is so incredibly dumb. For over a decade Adobe has been aware that pro PDF users want this functionality.

They can want it all they want. It's not going to happen. Each signature field in a file must have a unique name.

This thinking is exactly what's wrong with this software. It's so bloated and poorly ad hoc'd that it runs slower than enterprise 3D software. Quite the accomplishment. Yet Adobe knows no one will go elsewhere. Ripe for antitrust reaming.

It is normal that you cannot duplicate a digital signature field.

What is not normal is the behavior of Acrobat, which should warn the user, or at least gray out the command.

The UI of this software is made despite common sense and ergonomics, it must be done with.

For the document you need only one signature field.

How do I get it on multiple pages?

What Berndt Alheit  meant is that one digital signature certifies the validity of the entire document.

This is true if you're working with an agreement. But not all PDFs are agreements that can be certified with one digital signature.

Some PDFs are composed of many other forms inside the same PDF which  may require that the approving signature be applied to other many parts of the same document.

I work with government forms and the workflow suggested by Bernd Alheit doesn't adapt to my PDFs because of  the many pages that  require the same digital signature of the Approver in its own signature  block, for example.

You won't be able to use the same digital signature field many times accross that document though.

Each digital signature field is unique and Adobe Acrobat doesn't provide an easy way to work around what you're asking unless some heavy JavaScript scripting is employed.

You may be able to use other methods with JavaScript though, like employing the use of stamps, to name an example.
