Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended version 9.0.0 displays fields from under a field set to Read Only. How do I prevent showing these fields when a field set to Read Only is displayed on top of them?

Creating overlapping fields is a bad idea. Their z-order can't be set explicitly, which is why sometimes they will show what's underneath them, and sometimes they don't. It depends on which field you edited last. It's best to avoid doing it altogether.

PS. Your version is very old and likely very buggy. You should update it to at least the latest 9.x version available, which is 9.5.5. Updates are available here: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/win/9.x/

This problem only started to occur when I went from Adobe Pro 8 to Adobe Pro 9. Many of the 1,700 forms I've created use overlapping fields.

In past versions I did not have too. Why are they showing now?

May be the field is transparent.
