File encryption doesn't work for single files, but for multiple files

Question

Greetings Community,

I've the following strange problem. When I want to encrypt a file with a password, either over an own action or the edited "Protect" action, it just doesn't work on a single file without giving me an error.

If I select multiple files and run the encryption for them (add files and "Start") it always works and every file gets encrypted.

I've made the protection like described here:

Did anyone ever experience a similar problem?

Thank you for reaching out with your question.

If I understand you correctly, you are saying it works for multiple files but doesn't work when you try it on a single file. Let us try the following to password protect a file:

- Open a file in Acrobat.

- File > Properties, click on the Security tab on the Document property.

- Choose from the Dropdown "Security method" -> Password Security, click Ok.

- Save the file with a different name.

- Open the saved file and check if that works

Note: After applying password security, one needs to save the file. Let us know how it works for you.
