File Size Bloat

I  have 5 files that are combined into a "package" The file sizes of the individual files are: 377 kb, 477 kb, 373 kb, 458 kb and 3.5 MB. When I combine them I get a file size anywhere from 14 MB to 26 MB (different results upon combining). When I tyr reducing the file size, I get an error message that reads, "error encountered while processing images". The problem is that these files contain no images.

  3. Steps you are doing to combine and reduce file size.
