Fill and Sign signature repeatedly disappears

Repeatedly for numerous people in our firm, their signature in the Fill & Sign tool disappears without them removing it. Thankfully, it is saved as a png that can be simply readded, but this has happened over 5 times to one user in the past week. Any ideas why this is happening and what I can do?

    Hi jkaplan_fhassoc,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry for the delayed response.

As mentioned, the signature disappears from the Fill & Sign tool without being removed. This typically occurs if you do not check the "Save Signature" box when you click on "Add Signature." Please ensure that you select the "Save Signature" option in the window that appears after clicking "Add Signature." For your reference, I've attached a screenshot below.

Hello - I also believe that the save signature box is not the issue here. Thank you to @Lisa35511437kpa1 for responding and thank you for the steps you gave her, I will try them as well.

Do you know if it matters at all that when I am adding the signature, I am adding it from a network drive? Would that cause additional corruption, and it might disappear less if it was stored on the C drive?

    Hi Lisa35511437kpa1,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry to hear about your experience.

Signatures are stored locally, and corruption here can cause both disappearance and upload errors. Please try the following steps:

    • Close Acrobat completely
    • Navigate to: C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\<version>\Security
    • Locate and rename the file: signatures.db → signatures_old.db
    • Relaunch Acrobat and try creating/uploading a signature again.

Try to reset the application preferences:

    • Rename the Acrobat preferences folder: C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\<version>

Reboot the machine once after these steps.

Let us know how it goes.

    Thanks,

    Meenakshi

I have also experienced disappearing signatures in the Fill & Sign tool, and it is NOT an issue regarding to failing to “Save Signature”. Additionally, when I try and upload a new signature, I get an “unknown error” message preventing me from uploading any signature and using the feature at all.

I have tried restarting the Adobe, restarting the computer, changing the language in preferances, etc. and nothing has worked.

This happened a few weeks ago, and the signature magically reappeared, and yet, here I am with a missing signnature again.

This has resulted in hours of wasted time trying to complete what should be a basic task, and the main reason I use (and pay for) Adobe.
