Fill & Sign: Suggested Text

Hello,

Issue: The "ADD TEXT" feature within Fill & Sign causes the program to freeze then shutdown. No error message.

Description: I am able to select Fill & Sign and perform nearly every featured action. When a new "add text" input window is created and I begin typing there is a suggested input drop down window that populates with past inputs. The issue comes when the suggested input drop down window is unable to recovery/retrieve/locate a particular input used in the past.

Action Take:

  • Computer Restart
  • Verify any pending Adobe updates (none)

Hi erinm15558993,

Sorry for the issue that you are facing while using Adobe Acrobat Reader. We have made some fixes around this area. I request you to please update to the latest version 2019.010.20069 and let us know if you are still able to reproduce the crash.

If yes, I would request you to kindly share the Crash dumps when Reader Crashes for you.

Here is how you can collect the crash dump :

When Reader Crashes (If you get this error message "Adobe Reader has stopped working") , Can you please share with us the Crash Logs .

For Getting the Crash Logs:

a.      When Acrobat Reader Crashes , Open Windows Task Manager

b.      -> Got To Processes, There you can see a process "Adobe Acrobat Reader DC" / AcroRd32.exe

c.      Right Click on this process and click "Create Dump File"

d.      Dump file will be created in the Temp folder of user (as specified on the dialog you get after creating dump files).

e.      Save this DMP file on any Cloud Storage and Share the link for that with us on mail at sagrover@adobe.com

We will try to analyze your issue on priority once you share this information with us.

Hi erinm,

As per the issue description mentioned above, Acrobat is freezing when trying to use fill and sign option in Acrobat, is that correct?

Could you let us know the application you are using- Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat?

Also, let us know dot version and the operating system installed on the machine? You may refer to the steps given in this link on how to check the version: Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

Does this happen with this specific pdf file only? Have you tried replicating the issue with other pdf files?

Also, try repairing Acrobat using "Repair installation" option under Help menu ( for Windows OS only), reboot the machine after repair and check.

Hi erinm,

Could you try following troubleshooting steps:

1- Login to https://cloud.acrobat.com/ with same id you logged in on Reader/Acrobat.

2- Click on your name in top right corner , drop down list will appear. Then click on ‘Settings’.

3- Now, a dialog will appear. You can uncheck 1st option "Suggest words or phrases..".

4- Press Done. Your settings will get saved.

5- Relauch the appication and check.
