"Maybe it could be prompting them to attach a file?"

Yes it is possible and I think using an attachment is the best solution because you cannot extract an image that has been imported into an image field (button).

Add an image field. They will need Reader DC (or Acrobat, any version) to be able to insert an image file, though.

If they have an earlier version of Reader they will only be able to add a PDF file, or nothing at all.

You don't need to do anything but add an image field. When the user clicks it they'll be prompted to select the image, and it will then be displayed as the icon of that field.

Uploading it may be possible - but do you want to get the JPEG back (rather than just see it in the PDF)? If so, PDF forms may not be your solution.

In this instance, it's a job application that requires the person filling it out to send me a picture of their drivers license.  Maybe it could be prompting them to attach a file??

I'm open to suggestions:)
