Filling problem on an interactive form

Question

I created a pdf with an interactive form composed mainly of editable text fields.

All text fields have the same options:
- Multiline
- Automatic font size

First problem: When the pdf is opened on "Preview" (Apple), some text fields work and others don't. For example, the multiline function doesn't work. For example, the multiline function doesn't work.

Second problem (and the most important): when someone fills in the form on "Preview", the pdf preview doesn't work (see screenshot), so you end up with little "+" in each text field.

Can this problem be solved?

Yes. It is well known that Preview will damage or destroy forms. Apple have had over 10 years to fix it, and show no signs that they ever will. Other PDF viewers may have different bugs. Since there is no collection of information on this, nobody can plan effectively. This is a severe difficulty with PDF forms. You need to give clear instructions to your end users to get and to use Acrobat Reader - which may be challenging because they will simply ignore them and use Preview because they know it opens PDFs. Or Windows users will continue to use Edge (without even knowing that they are) because it comes with Windows.  You also need to consider the people on phones and tablets - Adobe have apps for these device, but Adobe themselves haven't troubled to make them full-featured.
