Font being displayed as dots in Adobe Acrobat DC

Hi,

I am currently struggling with a PDF document, that has been working up until September 16th.

It has been created with GillSansStd and has been working for a few years.

Now it pops up with an error that says it is unable to withdraw the integrated font "NYYKEV+GillSansStd" and that some symbols are unable to be viewed or printed.

Then I tried to edit the font of the document, but it still keeps the dots.

It has been created on a Windows 10 PC and is being viewed on a Windows 10 PC. Happens on multiple PC's.

When it is viewed correctly, it is being Viewed from PDFelement, and it has been made in PDFelement. But it has suddenly stopped displaying correctly in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

Extremely common error. You'll find a gazillion entries in this forum about it.

Your PDF is missing its fonts.

It's caused by one of two factors:

  1. The fonts were not embedded into the PDF when it was created, so check your options to embed (subsetted) them.
  2. The fonts you used do not allow them to be embedded into PDFs because the manufacturer has restricted their use. Check the EULA (end user license agreement) or the font properties and ensure that they are embeddable, or that you purchased a license with the rights to embed them.

Hi Bevi,

Thank you for your response. I will have a look into this, and try and figure it out.

I will give some feedback, once tested.
