    Correct answer Test Screen Name

PDF 1.0 / Acrobat 1.0. In other words, always. However, initially only Type1 fonts could be embedded.

Thank you -- fills in a small but irritating little historical gap

    Hi mordredaxis,

Thank you for reaching out and sorry for the delay in response. Would you mind elaborating a bit more about the issue you are experincing? Are you getting any issues while embedding font? If yes, please go through the help page: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/pdf-fonts.html#font_embedding_and_substitution

Let us know if that helps.

    Thanks,

AFAIK, I think it did it from the beginning. The whole purpose was to have a format that would look the same no matter what computer. (Mac version came with v2.0.)
