Fonts not recognised by Edit PDF tool in Acrobat Pro

Until recently, using the ‘Edit PDF’ tool in Acrobat to select text would show me the properties of that text - font, size, colour, etc.

Now, some fonts are being recognised correctly but others are showing up as Helvetica when they are most definitely not Helvetica. See screenshots for examples. One screenshot shows the font correctly showing as Quicksand. The other two screenshots show the fonts Malaga and Hurme Geometric incorrectly showing as Helvetica.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Any ideas for a solution?

I updated Acrobat today but the problem has been happening for a few weeks and wasn’t solved with the update.

Go to Print Production: Output Preview: Object Inspector: and click on any text.

Or in Document Properties, which lists all the fonts used in the document.

Thank you. I knew about this, but it doesn’t tell me which font is used where in the document, which is what I need to know.

Thank you! I’m still mystified as to why Acrobat is suddenly behaving differently, but in the absence of a solution, this will be the next best thing.

Are these fonts installed on your computer? If not, you will not be able to edit that text, unless they are fully embedded in the PDF file. It could be that Acrobat defaults to Helvetica in such a case, although it should really show an error message.

I don’t actually want to edit the text. I only want to see what the different fonts are.

Some of them are installed on my computer, some of them are not. But this has always been the case, and yet until recently I could always see the font name for each font (as well as its size and other attributes) using Acrobat’s ‘Edit PDF’ tool. In fact, in the preview images I have uploaded, it is correctly recognizing the Quicksand font in one spot even though that font is not installed on my computer. And yet it is not recognizing it in another spot in the same document.
