Hi friends!

I would like to prepare a dcoument in Word with footnotes and then in the PDF file, when a reader hovers over the word with the FN a little tooltip box appears witht he text of the FN inside.

Used for definitions of terms and people etc.

Any ideas how to do this?

Thank you So much!

Susan

The easiest way is to create a button field over that text with the footnote as its Tooltip property. If you don't add any commands to the button, nothing will happen when the user clicks it.

I've actually developed a (paid-for) tool that will do this for you automatically, if you're interested. You can find it here: https://www.try67.com/tool/acrobat-add-tooltip-text-to-key-words-or-phrases

It comes with detailed instructions on how to install and use it, as well as a sample file that shows it in action, but I'll send you an email in case you have any further questions about it.
