Form Text Field Background Color Overwrites Value Text

We have a PDF form template that has several text fields, some with fill colors set, others without. The form is filled in and saved as a PDF then sent to our client.

The client opens the PDF using Acrobat and adds additional text using either "Edit PDF" or "Fill & Sign". As soon as they click on either of these options, the fields with fill colors suddenly have the background color in front of the value. i.e. The value is hidden behind the fill color. The value is still present and can be seen in "Fill & Sign", but it is not visible when clicking out of the field.

How can we set up these forms properly so that the value is always in front of the background fill color?

You don't use either of those options to fill a form. If it really is a PDF form, then it has interactive form fields. Just click in them and type. If it doesn't have interactive form fields, then use the "Prepare Form" option to add them.

Adding to the information shared by Thom Parker. If it is an interactive form, you do not need the Edit PDF or Fill & Sign tool to fill it out. Please create a PDF form using the steps suggested in the following help document: Create a form from scratch. Then, fill out the fields on your end and send them to others.

Thanks for the replies. Just to clarify, the form is filled out on our side and saved as a standard (non-fillable) PDF before we send to the client.

At any rate, we have discovered that this is a problem with a third-party code library that we use for filling the form before sending, and we have addressed the issue in code and believe it is now resolved.
