Question

Formatting words/text in bookmarks?

I assume it is not possible to format words or text within bookmarks once their properties have been established? (eg bold, italics, or different font types) Using Acrobat DC Pro Mac (latest versions).

Please let me know if I am wrong. tx

You can't change the format of the text within the bookmark title. It's all or nothing.

Thanks. Too bad.

As long as the PDF is not password protected, you can right-click on the bookmark to open Bookmark Properties, and choose to format it as you like.

Thanks. That applies to all of the bookmark, though, and not to individual words within a bookmark, and it's this that I want to be able to do. The bookmark text is not "rich".

Yes, the formatting applies to all the text in the bookmark. When I want to distinguish bookmarks, I make a hierarchy of main bookmarks and sub-bookmarks, with the main book marks being bold and sub-bookmarks being regular.

Although bookmarks can wrap, I prefer to keep them short for the convenience of those who will be using them.

If you need more control over formatting, you might consider setting up a table of contents with links to the various parts of the document. For easier navigation, on each page of the document you could have a link back to the table of contents.
