Free form drawing comments aren't saving to a pdf file

Hello, I currently have filled out a pdf form with the free form drawing tool but when I look at the file after I've saved it, the file doesn't have my writing on it. Is there a way to save the hand written comments in the pdf file? I am on a mbp 2012 running el capitan.

I have experienced that sometimes, when I save a document, and Acrobat is in the middle of the save process, it crashes and the comments are lost. Try making the comments again, and then before you save, export the comments as a data file (FDF). That way, if it crashes during the save you will still have a backup copy of your comments.

You can also try checking the comments pane and see if the comments aren't just hidden through a filter.
