Gray Box Keeping Me from Using PDFs

I'm using the most up to date version of Windows, but for some reason whenever I open a PDF my file is unable to use Acrobat because the gray box keeps popping up.

Once this happens, the program completely freezes & I can't close Acrobat unless I use Task Manager. Does anyone know how I can fix this?
